Carolina Ingredients, a regional food manufacturer and distributor, will soon have a new manufacturing facility in Rock Hill, SC. With a sharp pencil toward saving energy, Carolina Ingredients chose Argand to design and install their new roof mounted photovoltaic system which will deliver a total of 43,590 kW hours per year of clean, renewable electricity per year to the facility--That’s 43,590 kWh of electricity that the new plant will get from the sun rather than the local utility.
The PV system includes 156 Sharp 216 watt panels, a DPW commercial racking system, and a SMA Sunny Tower inverter, which houses 6 SMA 6000 watt inverters.
The solar thermal system includes 2 Gobi Flat Plate collectors mounted due south at 35 degrees, a Heliopak Pro heat transfer appliance and an 80 gallon solar storage tank which preheats a conventional natural gas water heater. The solar thermal system also includes remote Wi-Fi navigation and monitoring.
Together the two solar energy systems will be decreasing Carolina Ingredients carbon footprint by more than 23 tons of CO2 annually—yet another corporate leader helping to save the planet while saving a substantial bit on their power bill.
